Photoshoot Preview

This weekend was a bit crazy with my grandma passing away. We went ahead with our photoshoot with a friend that was sweet to take my photos for our family. She used her camera until almost the end when I let her take some shots with mine. Here are some of them...

She took a lot of pics on her camera and I am soooooo excited to see them. I love doing photoshoots for others but having someone do them for our family definitely took the stress off of me and the kids. I am looking to the photo shoots I have ahead until the end of the year!

Good-bye Grandma

My dear grandma passed away today at the age of 86. She was born and raised in Houston. She was near and dear to my heart. I have lived close by almost my whole life. We stayed at her house all the time when we came back to Houston to visit when we lived in College Station and Austin. She made us feel so at home. I have so many memories of the time I was able to spend with her in the past 31 years. She came to see me be married to Corey, she has loved my children (her great-grandchildren) so much, she showed so much love to Corey, me, and my children. I regret not being able see her this past Sunday night at the hospital. I haven't seen her this year but twice-the last time being over Spring Break before and after we went camping. She will always hold a dear place in my heart.

Longest week ever!

This is by far the longest week ever and it is not even over yet! Changes at church which made me sad, 4 out of 5 of us have had colds, took Brady in and he has an ear infection and pink eye, Ashlyn came home early from school with nothing wrong with her, I am loosing my voice due to my cold, and now I am awake at 1:56am in the morning because Grant has no fever but threw up. Being a mom can be so tiring at times but I am guessing it is all worth it. When the kids get sick in the fall/winter/spring I sure long for the HOT days of summer because my kids are NEVER sick! I have a feeling Grant is sick because of all of his coughing he is doing and the mucus but who knows so another trip to the doctors office after they open and hopefully they can tell me what is wrong with him. Ahhhh hopefully a little tv up here in the play room will get Grant back to sleep so I can get some sleep. Really I should be counting my blessings since I know others who are worse of than me...

Smarter than the school nurse...

Today has been crazy but like they say, 'When it rain, it pours.' This morning I was concerned about Brady's eye so I decided to take him to the pediatrician. I made the appointment then got some things done around the house. I took him in and they said he has pink eye and an ear infection. I wasn't too shocked but glad that we went in. After that I realized I had enough time to make it over to drop his precriptions off and then go eat lunch with friends at Taco Grill. It was there that I got the nice phone call of 'your daughter might have pink eye' from the school nurse. I really really wanted to eat and chat so some dear friends (ladies from church) pitched in and watched Brady for me all the while I drove 10 mintues to get Ashlyn since the nurse seemed like she had to be picked up right then and there. I got to the school and to me it looked like she just had some of that gunk in your eye from sleeping. I got in the car and in the back of the car I hear, 'Mom, how come I can't stay at school?' I gave her the whole if you go to the nurse you usually have to go home or in your case I think you will have to go to the doctor. I rushed back to the restaurant and chatted for almost 2 hours all while Ashlyn is playing with her friend Sydney. After we left, I looked in her eyes and knew that she didn't have pink eye! I am so much smarter than the school nurse! So many people have warned me that the nurse sends kids home all the time because she doesn't really look at what they are sent there for....ugh! Thank goodness I didn't waste another $20 today to take her in because she doesn't have pink eye :) Well, lets hope that my cold and Brady's ear infection and stuff clear up soon-we've got our family picture on Saturday!

Splish Splash

Tonight I found the kids being cute during bathtime. Normally they don't take baths together anymore but our whirpool tub is the bathtub of choice when needing to be cleaned at night.
Here they are acting like the faucet is a water fountain...

Brady trying it out...he thinks he is bigger than 15 months old.Grant trying to pose for the picture. He looks tired but I think that is due to the fact of daylight savings time. Setting the clocks back an hour has totally messed up the kids sleeping. The biggest problem is that they get up when the sun does...6am! Not fun.Ashlyn loves taking baths in my bathroom. Here she is showing off that missing tooth.Brady looks like he doesn't like bathtime but he loves it!! He starts dancing around (naked) while the water starts to get warm! After bathtime, I picked up the house after being gone all day and with Corey doing scouts up at church tonight...I found this cute girl asleep on the couch after getting her library book out to read. Oh how I love sleeping kids!

Dear Tooth Fairy

Dear Tooth Fairy,

I lost my first tooth yesterday, November 1st 2009. I put my tooth under my pillow and it was still there this morning. Love, Ashlyn

Ashlyn lost her first tooth yesterday which means my little girl is growing up. I know this isn't the most attractive picture but I am just documenting it so we know when it happened.
In other Ashlyn news: she now loves to repeat my sarcasm to me: 'Stop it, you are driving me crazy!' *Note to self: say it in your head and not out loud.

PS: This girl has learned that she can ask for more money than the usual $1 and now we are up to $2 since the toothfairy forgot last night.

Halloween 2009

Halloween 2009 was a success! We got together with neighbors on our street for a block party which basically meant grilling hotdogs and hamburges with all the sides that go along with it. It was lots of fun and the weather was perfect! Corey was in charge of 'man-ing' the grill. Here he is making sure the hamburgers he made were cooked to perfection.

Here is a mask he tried on that one of our neighbors had. A little too scary....

Here are a majority of the kids from our end of our street....

This is a funny pictures...it looks as though Ashlyn thinks Brady is really a dog and is petting him. She sure loves him...

Grant with some of his friends...Joey, Zenden, Comazell, and Grant.

Ashlyn and our her friend Payten. They are so cute!

Here are our kids before we head out trick or treating....

Grant our Dr. in training!

Ashlyn our real life sleeping beauty....

Brady our little cute puppy dog....

Am I the Only One?

Am I the only parent out there who goes through their kids' folders, looks at it, and then throws it away? I am not into keeping clutter from the school and really hate hanging onto most things that come home. I already receive twice the announcements/flyers that come home. I hope I am not a horrible mom for throwing away what I consider unimportant papers. Ashlyn just keep telling me today that I can't throw away some spider paper he labeled...well, I did because I looked at it, he got a 100 on it and now it is trash. I know Grant doesn't care if he keeps him, he is not attached to any school work that comes home. I am thinking it won't be missed by him and definitely me! I do keep cute things that I put away for them to look at when they are older but stuff they do in class esp in 1st grade-it becomes trash.

Trunk or Treat

Saturday night at church we had Trunk-or-Treat. It was a lot of fun and I heard a lot of people had a good time! My kids love the snow cone machine and Grant loved the popcorn machine! There was a dinner (chilli and cornbread) before the trunk-or-treating started. We loved watching people dress up and how creative people's costumes were! We didn't dress up as anything because we are not that creative...maybe next year!

Brady as our little puppy dog...isn't he adorable!?
Ashlyn as Sleeping Beauty and she had a lot of fun getting treats with her friends.
Grant as a doctor. His Aunt Jessi would be proud of this costume since she is finishing up medical school this school year! He loved it and was so cute!
Grant and Ashlyn went around a few times in the parking lot (I think Ashlyn went more than Grant because she got a LOT of candy) but after they were done they helped pass out what we had left. Corey really sat in the car while I went around taking pictures but Grant wanted a turn at it and so he'd call out to kids, 'Come here' and wave his hand to come all while Corey decided to talk football with the men that were nearby.
This is them at the end of the night before we left to go home. Brady was mad because he was tired of being in his costume but really they all had a great time.
On another note just to make sure it gets recorded....The Aggies beat the heck out of Texas Tech University! Whoop!! Aggies 52-Tech 30 in Lubbock, Texas!

If Walls Could Talk....

These are just some of the cute vinyl lettering I had my friend, Sheryln print for me! I love them! I have a couple more that I have to decide on where I am putting them. As for these, Corey thinks they are reminders for him. :-)
